Before
you get involved with The Neumarian Chronicles – Weighted, I selected five precious
words that you must have kept in mind during the reading process: Amnesia,
Power, Prophecy, Annihilate and Doubts. I call A.P.P.A.D. to be easier. Don’t
think I am telling the end of the book when I say A.P.P.A.D. because I am not.
I am just pointing how the author, Ciara Knights, works with words, feelings
and actions.
An
intriguing plot is the key of WEIGHTED. In 41 pages you are sure that Raeth,
main character, will lead you to a complete odd universe, full of mysteries,
wars, pains, fears and… Love. Yeah, LOVE! The most impressive feeling is
everywhere even in The Great War.
I do
not like to put labels, but this story is not only YA, it is an intense well-written
science fiction as well. It is not exactly an horror story, but it is not a
bedtime reading either. This book is a page-turner story with generous
sprinkling of chilling.
As
soon as I started reading I got into the plot, I could not put down. The scene
descriptions are brilliant, leading you from our real world to a different one in
a glimpse.
Raeth
is a twelve-year-old neumarian child who is captured by the Queen. There is
something inside her that the enemy wants to know. Although she does not
recognize this gift under her skin she needs to protect it. Imagine a little
girl wounded, tortured in an unfamiliar place. However, she is not alone maybe
the Princess Semara is on your side. Would she trust in the enemy?
I
almost bet that Ciara Knight wrote this short story as a gift to guide us to
the following books. If it is true, she deserves more than applauses. Well
done!!! I cannot wait to read them all.
