THE HOBBIT - THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and... come to the saga again!

Hello, Everybody...

How are you? I am happy to be here again sharing my opinions with you! Feel free to comment and start a discussion, anytime.
This review is about the second movie of what I call a trilogy. I know it is not exactly a trilogy, it is a  film divided in three parts.

The Hobbit – Desolation of Smaug continues talking about the journey of dwarves to take back their kingdom (Erebor). To achieve their goal they need Bilbo Baggins (the burglar) for the mission comes off. Otherwise, Bilbo has a secret, the ring is still with him and nobody else knows (at least he thinks).

I like sagas a lot, especially that ones which involve mythology, but I am not a huge fan of LORD OF THE RINGS. On the other hand, I am in love with THE HOBBIT. Since I watched THE HOBBIT – AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY in 2012, I have been astonished and became a fan immediately. What a fantastic movie!

Some reviewers prefer to compare the book to the film. It is good to compare, however we must be careful. It is not right to say one is better than the other, because they have different kind of language. The screen players Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro did an amazing work, they do not follow the book entirely neither frustrate who expect sees the book inside the film. It is possible to remember the scene of film when you are reading the book and vice-verse, even though they are not the same.

The elf Legolas is one of the characters whose participation was a choice of the screen players, because he does not exist in the book yet. A great idea! Although I consider Orlando Bloom’s career not as good as people thinks, but he has done a not bad job as Legolas since THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

It is time to go the cast, officially! I have lots of things to say about this topic, but two words could embody everything: ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! I am not going to analyse all of them, only three, because it would be an enormous review. It is clear as crystal that each actor and actress of this saga took his characters so serious and grew up with them.

One of the actors does not need presentation: Ian Mckellen - a master in acting. He proves (he does not need to show anything, we know, we always knew) to be a perfectionist in every single scene. Martin Freeman - known by playing Watson in SHERLOCK (TV) – is a great actor, I have to confess I am a big fan of Sherlock and admire so much Martin in his work on TV, his performance never disappoint me. Richard Armitage (our King under the mountain) is another nice choice, he is really good at. I am pretty sure he is the tallest dwarf I have ever seen in my whole life, he became a giant in dwarf skin in minutes, if you know what I mean.

There is an especial scene that I picked up to you just for you feel the vibe of the film: Bilbo surfing on the Dragon’s fortune, or better, Bilbo sliding on the Smaug’s treasure. It is unforgettable!

Well, I don not want to stop writing, it is so many things that it should be said, but this review must end , so I finish it now and leave a tip for you:

If you are addicted to elf, orc, sorcerer, wizard, dwarf, hobbit, enchanted mountain, duel, sword an many more strange creatures, run to the movies right now, it is an order!!!!!

My ticket:

See you soon…

Hugs and Happy 2014!
