THE MAZE (book) and the domino effect

To read or not to read? This is exactly the question I made. I have never read a Christian Fantasy novel before, so I thought it would be a good idea. If it was a boring story or not well written, I just would let it go.

As soon as I started reading I create an imagine in my mind: a huge puzzle. In a few words, the story is about a man who passes by a near death experience and fights to survive. Suddenly, in the middle of tragedy, he sees himself in a maze full of traps. After a while, he realizes that the traps are connected to his sins.

Thinking how the plot appears to readers, I can say every chapter seems to be developed with intention of showing a little bit about the characters. Reader and characters are going to build the dynamic of the “maze” together. One by one, the author presents their souls through their thoughts, attitudes, reflections, doubts and sorrows. The big question is what happiness means.

Another point that I consider so much important to mention is the mythological part. Creatures are introduced in a subtle way, they are getting involved with characters so slowly and precisely. Very clever!

While I was reading it, I remembered a film that I had seen long time it called CUBE (1997). However, what called my attention was not the plot of both stories, it was the atmosphere.

The fact is… If you believe in domino effect, you will love this book.

Feel free to comment!

ANDREW'S CLAIM TO FAME (book) and feelings.

The book is about a kid who wants to be famous. At the first view, you may think the story is only for children, or parents, or teachers from Primary Schools. However, it is not true.
This well-written plot tells us a little bit about courage, self-esteem and fear. These feelings live with us from the day we were born to the day we will die.
They are some of thousands reasons I can say this book should be read by people of all ages.
The story was written by Idan Hadari and published in 2013.

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL (film) and My childhood

The idea of shooting Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) can be awkward or unnecessary. Believe me, it was my first thought.

The Wizard of Oz (1939) is the most amazing movie I have ever seen in my entire life. I have been falling in love with it since I was 6 years old. It has been 29 years of pure love.

When the press published that a new movie about Oz would be shoot, I panicked. How dare they? The Wizard of Oz is untouchable. After I calmed me down, I realized that could be interesting. Even though, I was really apprehensive about the result (I don’t know why, maybe it is because the crew of old Oz is still in my childhood memories).

Movie released and I was at the cinema the day after. I did not imagine that I was on the edge of watching a wonderful film.

Every single detail (including lines, sceneries, digital stuff…) is perfectly put. The crew is incredible. My special attention is to Michelle Williams, her performance is fabulous. James Franco as Oz is brilliant. Rachel Weisz could not be more fantastic. Mila Kunis - famous by former TV show That’s 70 Show grows up with the character… Sam Raimi (the director), for me, is much more respectable than before, he made a masterpiece. I hope Sam Raimi knows that.

About the plot, the story is being told in a beautiful way, revealing how the characters enter inside their own soul slowly and without loses the magic. I cannot forget how amazing are all people of Oz!

Well, if you still do not watch OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL, get out of the chair and go now! You will not regret, I promise you!

RED 2 (film) and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

What can I say about a sequence? Let me think… I don’t like too much sequences, they are usually less awesome than the first part. That is exactly what happens. RED 2 (2013) is not a fool movie, but it could be better...

However, I can't deny that RED 2 has a triumph, Sir Anthony Hopkins. When he starts acting he proves and shows, clearly, how an amazing actor can change the dynamic of a film! It is always a pleasure to see him on screen. Well Done, Sir Anthony Hopkins! You save the film…

The biggest mistake of the film is to throw away the whole talent of Helen Mirren. I think she could do more for Victoria (her character), it seems she is stuck in the scenes. Mary-Louise Parker is funny and so kind at the same time, one nice point to RED 2. About John Malkovich, I am not a big fan of him, but he does a good performance. Bruce Willis is Bruce Willis...

THE CALL (film) and Are you there?

Brad Anderson is a film director who has done a great work through the last five years. He has been directing some TV series episodes including Fringe, Alcatraz and The Killing. If you watch one of them, you will see with your own eyes how amazing he has become.

The Call (2013) has a fantastic plot and a surprise every minute, sometimes we wonder if even FREUD could explain what happens there.
The characters are chosen perfectly, always in the right place and in the right moment. Michael Eklund’s character is really complex, and his performance is irrefutable, we can see he becoming a monster. Abigail Breslin is a great actress as we have already known, especially who saw her acting in Little Miss Sunshine (2006), but in this film she is able to surprise the public much more, trust me!

So what can I say more? Do not miss The Call
